Better Idea than FriendFeed Rooms
I don’t like FriendFeed Rooms at all. The whole point of FriendFeed is to have a consolidation of content for the people that I’m interested in. Rooms disturbs that by further dispersing the conversation.
Instead of, or maybe in addition to Rooms, I think it would be a better idea to just allow us to tag our conversations. If Dave Winer is talking about politics, let’s tag it as Politics and those who don’t care for it can filter the conversation to avoid anything tagged politics.
I see there’s a FriendFeed “News” Room. This is exactly the sort of thing that I do want to see in FriendFeed. Instead of sequestering it into it’s own Room, just tag the submissions.
At the very least I want the option (maybe it already exists?) to see all of my friends’ submissions, discussions, etc in my “Everyone” feed area regardless of where it’s submitted. Mark the content that’s in a room as such - just don’t hide it from me.
FriendFeed is all about bringing us all together. FriendFeed Rooms is all about separating us again.
